Description :
We are proud to announce that our team, led by Human Factors Psychology Lab (Prof. Sowon Hahn, Ph.D.) and CCIT & 3DCL Lab (Prof. Byung Chul Kim at Joongbu University), has developed a groundbreaking new project to train empathy among college students using virtual reality (VR).
The game design was headed by Yoon Kyung Lee (Ph.D. candidate, Cognitive Psychology) & Seoyeon Bae (M.A. candidate, Cognitive Psychology), and assisted by Yong-ha Park and Do-hee Kim. The project is funded by Seoul National University Faculty of Liberal Education ('Virtual reality (VR) utilization educational content development research initiative')
The project involves two VR games: 'Forests' Lullaby' and 'Our Friendly Hero Neighbor.' 'Forests' Lullaby' encourages rapport building with nature and animals, while 'Our Friendly Hero Neighbor' aims to help students practice everyday prosocial acts, such as helping neighbors.
By immersing students in these experiences, the project aims to help them become more attuned to the needs and perspectives of others, ultimately fostering greater empathy.
Empathy is a crucial skill in today's diverse and complex society, and we believe that this new VR project has the potential to make a real difference in the lives of college students.
We are thrilled with its potential impact. Stay tuned for updates on this exciting new initiative!
